Besides our Calendar, group and corporate volunteer projects, Hands On Orlando has coordinates numerous community-wide events.
Each event involves multiple projects that occur simultaneously, involving hundreds of volunteers who help non-profit agencies based across Central Florida.
Some events happen year after year while others may occur once.
HOO, for example, engaged about 8000 hurricane volunteers who contributed over 40,000 hours to help victims recover.
Over the years, some of our special events have included: (#) = years/occurrences.
Corporate Month of Service (3)
Partnership with the Corporate Council, The Home Depot and Hands On Network.
Gandhi Day (2)
Partnership with the Central Florida Indian Community.
Hurricane Volunteer Center (3)
8,000 volunteers, 500 projects, 40,000 hours of community support.
Make A Difference Day (8)
Malcolm X Day (3)
Partnership with the Islamic Society of Central Florida
Martin Luther King Days of Service (8)
National Youth Service Day (4)
Led the USA three years in a row.
National Volunteer Week (2)
9-11 Community Day of Service (1)
9-11 Liberty Banner (1)
Hands On Orlando is interested in coordinating more days of service, especially if they can be done in partnership with sponsors and community groups.
Each of these events requires a substantial amount of planning time, organizational resources and experience to be successful.
Individuals, groups and corporate teams are encouraged to participate.
