Suggest a project…Guidelines

We’re always on the lookout for ways to get more individuals, groups and companies involved in meaningful, hands-on volunteer projects.

Our goals are to help solve community problems, enable people to learn about community issues and to empower them to make a difference.

If your suggestion meets our criteria and if we have enough lead time to promote the project to the general public, we will lead the activity and do everything in our power to make it a success.

In some cases, Hands On Orlando will even provide the tools needed (but not usually the supplies) to accomplish the task.  This can save recipient agencies thousands of dollars.

Please keep in mind that our efforts benefit non-profit organizations, public schools, municipal parks and recreation centers, not HOO or for-profit entities.  No projects may involve administrative tasks or fundraising.

Projects that do not offer youth opportunities to participate, at some level will not be considered.

Here are a few examples.  We help children learn to read at a homeless shelter but are not involved in the agency’s 5K walk/run fundraiser.  Our volunteers fix a playground, plant flowers and paint the gym at an inner-city agency but don’t fold flyers to promote its annual gala.  We cook dinner for victims of domestic violence and play ball and board games with them but leave the task of stuffing envelops and cold-calling potential donors to others.

Your suggestion should involve one-time (can recur), hands-on, group activities that have a duration of between two and five hours.

Typically, HOO projects involves between six and 100 people.

Once you complete our form we will contact you.  Thank you.
