Be A Leader
Project Leaders are Hands On Orlando volunteers who lead our projects in the community.
Project Leaders gain valuable leadership, management, delegating, public speaking and risk management skills as they leverage their time and passion to help others.
These skills and experiences mirror what is required for a person to be highly successful in life.
Hands On Orlando's calendar-based projects serve between five and 50 volunteers. Our largest corporate team work project involved 6000 people in one day.
Project Leader are responsible, reliable, trustworthy, flexible, creative and caring. Many are outgoing.
Most Project Leaders are adults. However, outstanding youth, age 16+ will be considered.
Typically, a Project Leader dedicates about 60 minutes more time than a typical volunteer would during a project. Projects range from 1.5 to 4.5 hours. Most projects are three hours long.
Training and Support
Our Project Leader orientation session takes one hour. After that, you'll have a good understanding if this opportunity is suited for you.
Training is comprehensive and even includes shaddowing a current Project Leader.
Volunteers who become Project Leaders receive ongoing training and support.
Flex Your Power
Project Leaders leverage their time and talents to maximize their positive impact. Here are two examples:
- One volunteer can help a child learn to read. One Project Leader working with 20 volunteers can help 20 children learn to read, in the same amount of time!
- One Project Leader who manages one food sorting project with 50 volunteers would need to volunteer every Saturday for almost one year to have the same impact!
